Sigh
God help me, but I've decided that the Holy Catholic Church is the steward of Christ's authority on this Earth. This belief has already cost me dearly, and I suspect I'm not done yet done paying the cost. Maybe I'll eventually write a detailed post explaining my decision.
Robert, I've been reading your blog for a number of years now and kind of thought you might eventually reach this decision. I'd love to read your post when you have the time to write it. I'd be happy to help answer any remaining questions you might have or refer you to local resources on this end of VA.
You wouldn't be the first Anglican/Episcopalian to cross the Tiber; IIRC, one of the Episciopal bishops in Texas reached the same conclusion and became Catholic.
I'm not quite down with the conclusion, but we've seen quite a few good Catholics in the Blogosphere in the five years we've been blogging, including a fellow Tiber-crosser in Mark Shea. Francis Beckwith was a noted evangelical scholar who recently went Catholic as well.
I just read the rest of your commentary so far (I just saw this post as a referral for my blog, commented, then read up on your more recent stuff), and see that you've found Beckwith already in the post above this.
I'm heading in that direction too, but from a different position. I haven't really been a member of any denomination, and in fact, at age 40, I have still never even been baptized.
Congratulations to you--I'll be lurking to watch you progress, for my own inspiration! :)

Halelujah! I pray that God give you (all of us really) a sense that the yoke and burden really is easy & light. Will continue to pray for you...

You've got good company.

Hoke!
You have my prayers! God bless, guide, and guard you!

Hokie: Congrats. I've also read your blog for years. I swam the Tiber two years ago, and it's been great. God bless.
