Don't I wish...the ACC isn't united enough to pull that off; while the ACC concentrates on basketball the SEC banded together and got themselves in.
All I can think is that it's almost a Catch-22: unless you've already got a national championship you aren't seen as worthy to contend for one. To do so you'd either have to go undefeated in a BCS conference or go almost undefeated and have a superstar (both conditions met with 12-0 Virginia Tech with Michael Vick in 1999).
We play a slightly easier schedule next year and Tyrod Taylor has the potential to be the next explosive quarterback so...we'll see. Just not this year.

Based on this year (number 3!), you guys should start off pretty high in the ratings right off the bat. Which is always a help.
This year's national championship game will either cement the bad reputation of the Big Ten, or be a measure of redemption.
